YOGA + MINDFULNESS

I grew up taking dance lessons and studying dance from a young age, then continued my dance education at the University of Kansas. My dance career was cut short due to a debilitating eating disorder. As challenging as it was, the eating disorder was a catalyst for change. Through my own recovery I learned that I want to help others and acquired my Social Work license.

Now as an LCSW (licensed clinical social worker), I incorporate movement into my work to help others improve their relationship with mind and body. I am AFFA (Athletics and Fitness Association of America) certified and have taught fitness classes for 15+ years. I then acquired a yoga, breath work, and meditation certification through Yoga With Shawna out of Imperial Beach California.

I teach a style of trauma informed yoga that incorporates the yin yoga technique. Yin yoga can be a gateway to meditation and helps us to “just be” mindful in the present moment. It also assists to release toxins and stored trauma from the body and mind. I will assist you to learn yin poses in a trauma informed way.

After we practice the poses I will support you as you discover what comes up for you physically, mentally and emotionally. We will then process this through journaling and talk therapy. I also incorporate somatic (body) work, mindfulness, and breath work into my other forms of therapy.
